Hm..if you be able to load the real 1.10, can u use the PEF file? it's not working with the hacked version.

cheers

PEF probably works after overlaying the real v1.10 but the couple test photos I took were in DNG because the revised (nicer word) and it stayed at DNG after I reloaded the v1.30 for my SDM lenses (had forgotten how noisy that AF motor is without it). I Was able to change it back to PEF after re-updating the firmware so I'd assume I could with the manufacturer provided v1.10. As you state in your original disclaimer, do ANY of this at own risk. A failed attempt to update firmware (even with the real deal) could leave you with a $700 paperweight. CHARGED batteries in the camera are a MUST Have.

I have tried from 1.10 hacked version back to 1.30, and then back to 1.10 hacked version again.
And what i noticed that the debug mode i forget to switched off,  once the 1.10 is back in, i can see it's still there. So it must be a way to get in even in 1.30, since the it doesn't erase the debug mode and still remember the adjustments.

Cheers

Dear admin,
I recently purchased a DA*16-50 only to realize how bad the AF was...
I found your site and out of desperation I tried everything

1. with fw 1.30 I had BF problems (60% of more of the pics were soft of out of focus)
-I did the focus chart thing: proper chart, 45 angle, F2.8, 50mm

2. Put the "revized" 1.10, adjusted to +110, worked fine! (no SDM, body screw AF)

3. Loaded 1.10 official version, worked fine, debug mode,  +110 adjust for focus (60 shots, all ranges, outdoors and indoors, 3 were out of focus, 57 crisp and sharp)

Now the question: If i leave my corrected settings for AF at +110 and load the 1.30 fw back, will the camera still remember the focus adjustments? Or I am stuck to 1.10 and no SDM?

Thank you!

Yes, you can upload to 1.3 and the focus adjustment will be saved.

UPDATED 18 jan 2008:

Okay, i have renamed the file, it should be easier now, no rename. Also, NoNHacker1 said in the 8th reply, you can install the real 1.10 from Pentax after install this hacked firmware. Better use the REAL one :)

As some user in www.dpreview.com wants to download the hacked firmware 1.10 (pentax k10d), i uploaded it and you can download it >> HERE <<

Here is the instruction.

unzip the file and put in the sd card (just like you install as real k10d's firmware

Download this, this is FIRMWARE

Hi,
I tried to follow the instructions but already wehn I press Menu+On, it only shows "VER: 1.3" and then it goes to normal screen display. No question pops up.  I copied the "FWDC162B.bin" on a empty card.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any advice.

Brilliant! This just saved me so much time and effort trying to get this fixed by Pentax. A BIG THANK YOU for this extremely helpful tool.

BTW, it's not as scary to work with as some seem to think it is. It's actually more straight forward than the Settings menu ;)

Cheers, I'm off to take to photos that are actually focused on what I intended.
