Have you ever seen your self in the newspaper but you have no idea when it happened? Well, we have! Just by a coincident, we saw a new on VTV4 (vietnamese TV channel on HotBird satellite) and discovered they published a email which claimed to be one of our family member wrote it. It was a article about how overseas vietnamese think about the “new” Hanoi. HanoiMoi newspaper just made up the story, copy our picture and and wrote in the (wrong) name. Funny but scary how a state-run newspaper can publish made-up stories! Read more for evidence and link :)
As we saw the VTV4 and discovered the “news” that one our family member was in the news event, we were first laughing how and why would she wrote a email to comment about opening Hanoi to make the capital bigger. We discovered many things in the news didn’t match:
1. The image show a member but that person in the picture doesn’t know much about internet nor emails. How could she email to them? Even if she could, she wouldn’t write a such nice post (with all nice words).
2. The person who wrote the email to HanoiMoi wrote a wrong name. That name belongs to her sister and she lives in Sweden, while the person in the pictures lives in Denmark.
3. I asked both of them (person in the picture and the posters name) and none of them wrote that emai.
